We rarely think about our bladder until it isn’t working properly. But when a UTI strikes, your bladder will be at the top of your mind!
As part of Bladder Health Month, our team at AFC Urgent Care North Carolina wants to offer some insight into the bladder itself and to UTIs specifically.
What Is the Purpose of Your Bladder?
Your bladder might be small, but it is fierce! It plays a key role in optimal functioning of the body.
While urine is developed in the kidneys, it travels through the urinary tract system to the bladder, where it is stored. It remains in the bladder until it travels out of the body.
Examples of Common Bladder Problems
- Cystitis
- Urinary incontinence
- Overactive bladder
- Interstitial cystitis
How Do You Know If You Have a Urinary Tract Infection?
Urinary tract infections, or UTIs, are among the most common bladder health conditions. If you’re experiencing a UTI, you may have symptoms like a burning feeling when you pee and pain or pressure in your lower abdomen.
You might also feel tired and experience a fever and/or chills when experiencing the symptoms of a UTI. If you think you have a bladder infection, seek medical attention.
